About the women who made history and those who played them……..Maria Sweek built the Sweek House, Tualatin’s only home listed on the National register of historic places. She is played by Teresa Stone, Maria’s great-great-granddaughter. Lizzie Robinson built and ran the the brick store which still stands on Lower Boones Ferry Road next to the Country Inn (C.I.). Sue Raxter, a Tualatin business woman is in the role of Lizzie. Jessie Byrom is brought to life by Mary Ann Hulquist who was a THS and Grange member. Jessie raised money to build the church. Rosa Casteel who started the school lunch program is recreated by her granddaughter Jerri Bishop. Kathleen Horner portrays her grandmother Oprha Sagert who ran threshing crews. A former student of Nellie Wesch who inspired generations of students, is brought to life by Annette Saarinen. Bea Cole was Tualatin’s first woman principal. Councilwoman Donna Maddux represents Bea. The Winona Grange Hall was built by Ethel Pennington and Gay Paschoal, her granddaughter, plays Ethel. Nami Sasaki ran the strawberry fields. Joyce Olsen is her mom in this production. Tualatin’s first history was written by Ann Martinazzi and her daughter Rochelle Smith is Ann for this story. Peggy Gensman’s daughter Leann Bennet stands in for her mom. Who revived the Crawfish Festival? Well Lois Dalton did. Grange member Suzanne Weldon is on hand to tell us about Lois. Sandra Lafky-Carlson, Tualatin Historian will become the lady who saved the wetlands: Althea Pratt-Broome. Evie Andrews, Oregon Teacher of the year 1984; Yvonne Addington, Former City Manager; Linda Moholt, CEO Chamber of Commerce; and Sherilyn Lombos, City Manager all play themselves.
Musician Katie Lee (descendant of William and Rosa Jurgens, 1869 settlers) is joined by the Vocal Trio of Ann Hardt, Jan Stites and Kimberly Stites. Ann and Kimberly are decedents of Rosie Casteel and William & Rosa Jurgens.
