One of the best kept secrets in Oregon Geoscience is the close relationship between the tectonic history of our state and its magnificent fossil record of both plants and animals. Thomas Condon’s book, The Two Islands, alludes to this and Bill came to this realization some ten years into his career in Eugene.

Bill Orr took his training in Geology in Oklahoma, Californai and Michigan. He retired in 1997 from the University of Oregon as Emeritus Professor of Geology and continues to write and teach from his home near Salem. The 30 or so books he has written include standard references for Oregon geology and paleontology.
