Walking Through Time: Lake at the Commons.

Owen and Elizabeth took advantage of our offer to provide historical context to any local photograph when they stopped by the Lake at Commons with mom and dad (Karla and Kyle). The area centered around Nyberg Street and Boones Ferry Road is now full of businesses, condominium buildings, and of course, Tualatin’s Lake at the Commons. It was officially opened in 1994 when Steve Stolze was mayor. Back in the 30s and 40s, Nyberg Street did not dead end into the lake. Instead, one could find a baseball field in this area. Westward Packing and then Hervin dog food company set up shop in what would eventually become part of an urban renewal district.
