The public art you don’t see…

You see art all over town. There are sculptures, murals and even the Art Walk. But perhaps you didn’t know that there is a treasure trove of art which the city has collected over the years.

Join Janet Carr ,Tualatin Arts Advisory Committee Chair, and Julie Ludemann, Tualatin’s Recreation Manager, as they present this amazing collection. Examples from the City of Tualatin’s growing of public art will be highlighted Wednesday, August 2. A large number of the artworks depict Tualatin’s history. For more than 25 years, the City’s Arts Advisory Committee has purchased over 300 paintings, sculptures, photographs and other media that capture moments in time or artistic interpretations of our town’s life and culture. Members from the citizen committee will share stories and background on the process. Many of these can be seen in public buildings, and in parks and byways. Dozens of youth contributions over the years are part of a Student Visual Chronicle included in the collection. THS collaborated with the City on photos of early Tualatin which can be seen in a book available at the Heritage Center.
